Shillong(Meghalaya), Oct 27 : St. Edmund’s College recently hosted a groundbreaking two-day international seminar on “Indigenous Science Development: Intersecting Traditional Knowledge, Scientific Inquiry, and Socio-Cultural Practices.” The event brought together renowned experts and scholars from across the globe to explore the significance of indigenous knowledge in modern science.
Keynote speakers Medha Patkar and Ridhima Pandey highlighted the importance of integrating traditional wisdom with sustainability and environmental justice. International speakers shared insights on indigenous practices, including agro-forestry and conservation methods, emphasizing their relevance in today’s world.
The seminar featured a vibrant cultural program, with local artists performing traditional dances like the Wangala dance. With over 40 papers presented, the event provided a platform for scholars to discuss and share knowledge on indigenous science and its applications.
