
Tura (Meghalaya), Dec 5: The 5th edition of the Me’gong Festival has kicked off in grand style in the Garo Hills, with a spectacular opening day that saw a massive turnout and a star-studded lineup of global artists. The festival drew thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond.

The festival’s opening evening was a treat for music lovers, with performances by international artists such as Richard Marx, Neeti Mohan, Julian Marley, and Nucleya. The crowd was wowed by Richard Marx’s timeless classics, while Neeti Mohan’s Bollywood chartbusters had the audience singing along. Julian Marley’s soulful reggae beats and Nucleya’s explosive electronic set got the crowd dancing.

The festival also showcased the state’s rich cultural heritage, with performances by local artists such as Haystack Ladies, Strum Stories, and Ahaia. The Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project (CM-MGMP) was also highlighted, with the Top 7 finalists performing alongside international artists.

The festival grounds were abuzz with culinary excitement, with the Great Garo Hills Cook Off returning with renewed energy. Visitors relished an array of traditional flavors and creative interpretations of traditional cuisine, strengthening the festival’s role in promoting indigenous food cultures.

As the festival builds towards its second day, music enthusiasts can look forward to performances by Blue, Yellow Claw, Kanika Kapoor, and Prateek Kuhad, among others. The Me’gong Festival 2025 promises to be a celebration of music, culture, and heritage, showcasing the best of Meghalaya’s vibrant cultural landscape.
