Shillong (Meghalaya), March 10 : The Centre has appointed retired IAS officer from Meghalaya, Peter S. Dkhar as interlocutor for peace talks among the Centre, Meghalaya Government and proscribed militant organization belonging to Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC). .

Recently, the state govt had sent the names of three eminent personalities of Meghalaya to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for its selection after the HNLC had given in writing that it was willing to hold unconditional peace talks with the Government.
The state government, on Feb 9, had welcomed the statement made by the banned militant outfit Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) to hold peace talks.
