Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 19: In a swift move, the CM Connect initiative has resolved a long-standing issue in Koraibari village, ensuring that all residents receive their monthly PDS ration under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The intervention came after villagers complained to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma about being denied their rightful ration by Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealer Welwering R. Marak .
The issue was exacerbated by factionalism and groupism within the village, which had led to some residents being deprived of their entitlements. However, during a recent visit to the area, Chief Minister Sangma assured the villagers that strict action would be taken, regardless of claims and counterclaims from different village groups.
Following the complaint, an inquiry team was dispatched to Koraibari village, and upon confirming the allegations, the FPS dealer’s license was canceled, and he was ordered to submit all related documents. Reconciliation efforts were also initiated between the two village factions .
The CM Connect initiative has been instrumental in empowering citizens and strengthening governance in Meghalaya. By providing a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and have their problems addressed, the initiative has brought about a sense of transparency and accountability in the state’s governance .
