Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb7: NorthEast United FC’s impressive eight-match unbeaten streak in the Indian Super League (ISL 2024-25) came to an end with a 2-0 home defeat against Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The match, which marked the first ISL game played in Meghalaya’s capital, saw Bipin Singh (41′) and Lallianzuala Chhangte (90+2′) score for the visiting team. This loss drops NorthEast United FC to fifth place in the league standings with 29 points from 20 games.
Head coach Juan Pedro Benali reflected on the game, saying, “We did everything but they got the points. However, the most important thing is we must look forward to the next game, and I am proud of the team for their performance”.
