Kohima (Nagaland) , June 3 : 9 more Covid cases were detected today taking the total number of cases to 58 . All the 9 persons had returned to the state from Chennai recently .
Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted that 115 samples were tested yesterday, out of which 9 samples returned a ‘positive’ result’.
Seeing the sudden spurt the state Cabinet has decided to convert the Tourist Lodge Dimapur into a dedicated Covid-19 hospital.
Earlier , 6 more Chennai-returned citizens to the state had tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
Out of 90 samples tested from Chennai returnees, 5 Male & 1 Female have tested Covid-19 positive and all the cases are from Dimapur.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in a tweet said: “Unfortunately, two persons in Dimapur and one in Kohima have been tested positive for COVID-19. Please do not panic. We need to handle it with utmost care and responsibility. Necessary action of contact tracing and containment measures are being taken and situation closely monitored.”
