Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 21: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the East Khasi Hills District Police, in collaboration with the District Administration, Forest Department, Excise Department, and the State Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), successfully destroyed approximately 10 tonnes of illegally cultivated Cannabis (Ganja) spread across 5 hectares of land at Laitlulong, Sohiong.
The multi-department team systematically cut down the illegally grown cannabis plants and destroyed the seized Ganja through controlled burning, ensuring complete elimination of the contraband.
This operation demonstrates the district administration’s zero-tolerance approach toward drug-related crimes and commitment to protecting society from the menace of narcotic substances.
The cultivation of Cannabis is an offence under the NDPS Act, and the authorities will take strict action against those involved.
