Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 29: The Meghalaya U-19 men’s cricket team is facing an uphill battle in their Cooch Behar Trophy Elite Group A match against Baroda, with the visitors taking a commanding lead of 430 runs at the end of the second day’s play at the MCA Ground in Polo.
Baroda’s batsmen made the most of the favorable conditions, with openers Nitya J Pandya and his partner putting on a massive 274-run stand for the first wicket. Pandya, the Baroda captain, was the star of the show, smashing 177 runs off just 183 balls, including 33 boundaries.
The Meghalaya bowlers struggled to make an impact, with Gaurav Thakuria being the only one to pick up a wicket. The hosts will need to produce a remarkable turnaround on the third day to get back into the match.
