Shillong (Meghalaya), April 9: In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Meghalaya women’s cricket team emerged victorious in their final group match against Nagaland in the 2nd NECDC Senior Women Tournament 2025 at Rangpo, Sikkim. The team finished on top of Group A with a convincing 29-run win, securing their spot in the semifinals.
Debasmita Dutta, an opening batter, was the star of the show, striking 10 fours in her impressive 68-run knock from 65 balls. Her blistering performance nearly saw her carry her bat, as Meghalaya posted a competitive total of 122/4 in 20 overs. Neha Hajong’s 20 from 21 balls and a late cameo from Ajima Sangma’s 15 not out from 7 balls further bolstered the team’s score.
In response, Nagaland struggled to match Meghalaya’s momentum, managing only 93/9. The Meghalaya women’s cricket team’s impressive performance has set the stage for a thrilling semifinal showdown.
