Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 23 : Meghalaya will showcase the double decker living root bridges on the 70th Republic ceremony in New Delhi, this year .

The State has prepared the replica of Umshiang double decker living root bridge located in Nongriat in Cherrapunjee to highlight the capacity of the Khasi and Jaintia people of the state of building bridges from secondary roots of trees for time immemorial .
The tableau would also demonstrate three tribal maidens from Khasi, Jaintia and Garo tribes .
