Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 20: The inaugural media meet, held at Taj Vivanta here today, brought together prominent figures to discuss the future of journalism. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Minister of Information and Public Relations Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary Vijay Mantri, and Director Malthus Sangma attended the event.
The Chief Minister felicitated eight senior Journalists who have contributed over 30 years to the journalism landscape in Meghalaya and awarded ₹1 Lakh to each to them through the CM’s Special Grant.
In his opening remarks, Chief Minister Sangma emphasized the importance of recognizing journalists’ contributions and adapting to technological changes while upholding ethical standards ¹. “We need to have programs like this to recognize and felicitate the hard work by journalists,” he stated.
The Meghalaya Media Meet 2024 aimed to address the challenges and opportunities facing journalism in the digital age, providing a platform for media professionals to exchange ideas and insights.
