Shillong (Meghalaya ), Jan 2 : A – two- week long joint exercise by the Indian Army and its Bangladesh counterpart will commence from Monday and would end of Feb 16 next.
The joint exercise i, Sampriti-IX would be held Umroi and would be mainly on counter – terrorist operations and is the ninth such programme being organised between the two neighbouring countries .
“During the joint exercise, a command post exercise (CPX) and a field training exercise (FTX) will be conducted,” news agency PTI quoted the defence official as saying.
During the two week long programme, the armies of both the countries will get familiar with each others organisational structure and tactical drills. This would be followed by a joint tactical exercise where battle drills of both the armies will be practised.
The programme would end with a final validation exercise in which troops of both armies will jointly practice a counter-terrorist operation in a controlled and simulated environment.
During the programme , a cultural understanding will be emphasized to strengthen military trust and cooperation between the two nations.
