Shillong (Meghalaya) , Aug 20 : The state recorded the highest single spike of 126 new cases on Thursday taking total number of cases in the state to 1655.
The active cases as of now stand at 925.
Among the new cases detected today , East Khasi reported 106 cases which includes Five staff including a doctor from city based Ganesh Das Hospital , 1 Central Government Health worker from Rilbong locality , 41 from the Armed Forces , 3 CrPF personnel, 16 from BSF , 11 from Random test at Khlieh lew , 10 from random tests at Mothpran , 13 from random tests at Anjalee Cinema area , 5 from random tests at Police Bajar and 1 from the OPD from Raid Provincial Chest hospital .
12 new cases were detected in West Garo Hills which includes 10 from BSF and 2 general public during random tests in Tikrikilla.
1 returnee tested positive in East Garo Hills today .
Ri Bhoi District reported 6 new cases which includes 1 returnee and 1 detected through contact tracing .
In West Jaintia Hills 1 health worker in Jowai tested positive.
