Shillong (Meghalaya) , Oct 6 : 270 new Covid cases were detected on Tuesday in the state while one more critically -ill Covid patient succumbed to his infections taking the death toll so far to 60 .
With the new cases today the state tally has gone up to 7,037 . The active cases stand at 2,371 after a total of 4,606 patients have been declared recovered .
Among the new cases , 195 cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district , 26 from West Garo Hills District ,6 from East Jaintia Hills , 3 from North Garo Hills , 7 from South West Garo Hills , 19 from Ri Bhoi ,10 from West Jaintia Hills , 2 from East Garo Hills and 1 cach from West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills .
A total of 115 patients were declared recovered on Friday .
Meanwhile , Deputy Chief Minister , Prestone Tynsong informed today that the state has incurred an expenditure of Rs. 399 crores so far to fight the epidemic in the state .
He said that the state government has decided that the testing for Covid -19 and the food provided at the Covid Care Centers will be on payment basis w,e,f Oct 16 .
However , no payments will be charged from BPL families .
