
Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 20: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly came alive with festive cheer as it hosted a Pre-Christmas Prayer Service and Celebration at its new premises in Mawdiangdiang. The event brought together the state’s top leaders, including Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, and Deputy Speaker Limison D. Sangma, along with other members of the legislative assembly.
The prayer service was marked by soul-stirring musical performances by the Children of God’s Dream Children’s Home, the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Choir, and the Mahila Band of the Nagaland Police, who enthralled the audience with their vibrant renditions.
Neil Vimal Kumar, Speaker and Ministry Director, Life Focus Society, Chennai, shared a poignant Christmas message, emphasizing the values of love, peace, compassion, and humanity that the festival embodies. “Christmas signifies hope and the revelation of God to humanity,” he said.
Commissioner and Secretary of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Andrew Simons, echoed these sentiments, saying Christmas serves as a reminder of the timeless values of love, peace, compassion, and humanity, calling upon all to serve one another with kindness and selflessness.
The event culminated in a joyous ceremonial cutting of the Christmas cake, symbolizing the spirit of sharing and togetherness. The gathering was a testament to the assembly’s commitment to fostering harmony and unity among its members and the community.
