Shillong (Meghalaya) , May 17 : Around 2000 residents of Meghalaya who entered the State so far, have tested negative for Covid -19 in the confirmatory tests and are are currently under quarantine.
Meanwhile , the state government has advised returnees and their family to be under quarantine and follow Govt advisories.
All 7 persons who returned from Chennai have tested negative after their RT-PCR test results were released today evening and will now complete their quarantine period at home.
The last remaining positive person currently lodged in Shillong Civil Hospital has also tested negative. She will undergo confirmatory test after 24 hours effective today and will be in hospital till the results are declared .
State Chief Minister , Conrad Sangma tweeted 7.10 pm , ”All the individuals, who came from outside North East, till now, and tested initially positive in the rapid test (antibody test), were tested for Covid-19 through RT-PCR test, and all those cases have come out negative.”
In a related tweet he said , “Retest of the lone active case (positive patient) was done again, and the test has come out negative. As per protocol the patient will have to be tested again after 24 hours.”
