Shillong(Meghalaya),April 3: The State recorded 24 new Covid cases in the state on Saturday.
Among the new cases 22 patients were returnees and 2 tourists taking the active cases to 88.
All the 24 cases were detected in East Khasi Hills district.
East Khasi Hills District now has 58 active cases whilr West Garo Hills district has 23 active cases . Ri Bhoi District has 6 cases and West Khasi Hills 1 .
The only case in West Khasi Hills is of a returnee.
In East Khasi Hills 1 was from the armed forces , 1 a tourist, 1 is a patient with influenza-like illness and 1 a returnee. The other 10 (EKH 9, WGH 1 ) were detected through screening.
The state has 14,082 Covid-19 cases, out of which 64 are active after 13,868 have recovered. The state has recorded 150 death so far . The recovery rate is 98.48 percent. The fatality rate is 1.07 per cent.
So far, 98, 868 persons from outside have returned to the State, which had three containment zones where COVID-19 positive cases have been detected, an official statement said. Of the 4, 07, 216 persons tested for COVID-19, 3, 93, 110 have been tested negative.
Till this evening, a total of 1,21,270 citizens of Meghalaya have taken the Covishield vaccine out of which a total of 34,433 persons have been administered both doses so far.
A total of 22, 465 health workers have received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine, 15, 166 have received the second dose, 32, 860 frontline workers have received the first dose and 18, 390 have received the second dose, while 31, 512 from among the general public have received the first dose and 877 have been administered with the second dose of the vaccine in the State.
