Shillong ( Meghalaya ), April 22 : A total of 180 new Covid -19 cases were detected in the state on Thursday out of which 118 cases were from East Khasi Hills .
Among the 180 new cases 68 were returnees.
Of the 180 new cases East Khasi Hills reported 118 news cases which included 53 returnees, 32 high-risk contacts, 7 from armed forces , 6 with influenza-like illnesses , 3 detected through screening, 1 each from Bishnupur, Mawlai, Mawbah and Laitumkhrah locality , 3 cases from Nongmynsong locality , 2 from Madanrting locality , 4 from Police Bazar( Khyndailad) , 3 from Polo area and 1 health worker.
Elsewhere from the state ,West Jaiñtia Hills reported 31 cases (24 high-risk, seven returnees), Ri-Bhoi 14 (7 through screening, 5 high-risk, 2 returnees), 10 in East Jaiñtia Hills (5 high-risk, 1 returnee, 1 with influenza- like illness ), 3 each in West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills and 1 in South Garo Hills .
A total of 68 patients were declared recovered today.
The state tally now stands at 15,488 positive cases out of which 1,133 are active after a total of 14,198 were declared recovered. The death toll so far due to Covid -19 stands at 157 .
