Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 6 : 1 more critically ill Covid patient succumbed to his infections on Sunday taking the death toll in the state to 16.
DHS (Meghalaya ), Dr. A .War while confirming the death said that the 59 -year old , Dinabandhu Roy hailing from Pynthorumkhrah area of city succumbed to his infections at the Nazareth Hospital here .
Meanwhile 88 fresh cases were detected on Sunday taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,005 .
The active cases as of now stand at 1433 .
Among the new cases East Khasi Hills District reported 35 fresh cases of which 20 are general public and 15 from Armed Forces .
West Garo Hills reported 39 cases of which 27 are general public and 12 from Armed Forces.
North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills reported 4 cases each , East Jaintia Hills 3 and 1 case each from Ri Bhoi District , West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills .
A total of 29 patients were discharged today after full recovery taking the total number of recovered patients so far in the state to 1556.
Due to detection of a number of Covid cases in Jail Road area of Shillong, East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has declared closure of all shops and business establishments in Jail Road from today to Wednesday .
