Shillong(Meghalaya), Jan 25 : In a significant move to decentralize governance, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Mawhati C&RD Block at Umsohliat today. The event was attended by Minister Abu Taher Mondol, MLA Charles Marngar, and MLA Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister underscored the government’s commitment to bringing administration closer to the people. He noted that the Umsning C&RD Block, which served nearly one lakh people, had become unwieldy, prompting the need for a new block office in Mawhati.
The Mawhati C&RD Block is expected to cater to the needs of not only Mawhati’s residents but also surrounding areas, ensuring more efficient delivery of public services.
