Imphal (Manipur) , Aug 22 : : Education Minister Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam today held a meeting with the representatives of the students’ organisations to discuss how the new National Education Policy, 2020 can be effectively implemented in the state. The meeting was held at the Conference Hall of Samagra Siksha, Manipur.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Education, T. Ranjit Singh; Director Education L. Nandakumar Singh; Additional Director, Education (S) Hills, Lerte Hmangte Kom, Additional Director, Education (S) Valley, Ch Sachi Devi, and the officials concerned of the department.
The Minister appreciated the important roles played by the students’ organisation in improving the education system in the state. He said that the meeting was held to understand the new education policy and analyse in detail for effective implementation of the policy in the school, teacher’s training and higher education section. He hoped that suggestions and views would be shared by the representatives of the students’ organisations in the meeting.
During the meeting Dr. Th. Radheshyam also highlighted some of the major reforms in the National Education Policy, 2020 as such the new 5+3+3+4 school curriculum, teaching of students of upto Grade 5 in mother tongue / regional language and multiple entry / exit to be allowed with appropriate certification in UG education.
Pointing out the need for understanding the new education policy for effective implementation, the Minister said that a series of meetings are being organised by the Department of Education. He expressed that the better understanding of the National Education Policy, 2020 will help in bringing the best education system in the state based on the Indian ethos.
The Minister appealed to all the stakeholders to analyse the policy and contribute in implementing the policy with suggestions and opinions.
