Imphal ( Manipur), April 12 : Under the National TB Elimination Programme Manipur, a ‘Sensitization on Media Fraternity on Active Case Finding (ACF)’ was held today at the Medical Directorate, Manipur.
As part of the programme will be Starting from 15th of April and it will reach out to people who are living in the far flung areas and who don’t have the facility to diagnose TB at health centres or state/private medical facilities. New cases will be detected and necessary medicines and treatment will be provided free of cost.
Earlier, the programme called the Revised National TB Control Program (RNTCP). But many cases had been detected which were not reported to any TB centres or health centers. Consequently, it was renamed the National Active Case Finding (ACF).
PM Narendra Modi is also pushing to eliminate TB from the country by 2025, five years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)’s aim to eliminate the disease globally.
Consultant of the World Health Organization and NTEP, Dr. Pallav elaborated on the four steps – Detection, Treatment, Prevention, and Build to eliminate TB.
According to the data provided at the sensitization programme, there were 1410 TB active cases between April 2020 to March 2021 in the state , of which 1230 are new cases.
