Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 27: The Leader of Opposition in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Ronnie V Lyngdoh today, Aug 27 resigned from the post of Leader of Opposition.
According to official sources, the Speaker has accepted his resignation.
The strength of the opposition Congress was reduced to 1 member recently after 3 Congress MLAs joined the ruling NPP.
The Gambegre seat is still lying vacant after Congress MLA Saleng Sangma was elected MP from Tura seat.
As of now, TMC is the single largest party in the Opposition with 5 members and the Speaker is likely to appoint a member from the TMC as the Leader of Opposition.
