Shillong ( Meghalaya ), April 15 : Over 1000 house Ri-Bhoi district were affected in a cyclonic storm that ravaged the district on Thursday but there was no casualty.
According to official sources , the cyclonic storm caused severe damages in Umsning, Bhoirymbong areas of Ri Bhoi .
Under Umsning, 47 villages were affected whereas in Bhoirymbong, 29 villages with 612 households were affected.
47 villages in the district were affected in the storm from where the damages to houses were reported which included government properties like a BDO office, , a public works department office and veterinary offices.
Though there were no casualties, there were some minor injuries to people and there was no power from 11 . 40 am due to the impact of the storm .
All line departments were deployed for clearance and restoration works in the affected villages.
