Shillong ( Meghalaya), Dec 16 : The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has issued an order prohibiting heavy-loaded vehicles carrying more than 9 metric tons from plying on Thangsning-Thynroit-Mawpyrshong Road and Mawkynrew-Mynsang-Jatah Road. The order, effective immediately, aims to prevent further damage to the roads and ensure public safety.
According to reports, the continued movement of overloaded vehicles poses a significant safety risk to local commuters and threatens the integrity of public property. Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the BNS and other relevant provisions of the law. This move is part of the district administration’s efforts to maintain road safety and prevent accidents.
The East Khasi Hills district has seen similar restrictions in the past, with the administration imposing bans on overloaded trucks and heavy vehicles on other roads in the region. The latest order will remain in force until further notice.
