Shillong (Meghalaya), March 13 : CM Elevate Conclave for entrepreneurs of Garo Hills region was held today at the District Auditorium Tura which was attended by Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma as the Chief Guest.
Also present during were Deputy Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Timothy D Shira, Minister, Power, A T Mondol, Minister, PHE, Marcuise N Marak and Member of Lok Sabha, Agatha K Sangma.
Addressing the gathering, CM, Conrad K Sangma, said that is the vision and mission of the government to have a 10 billion economy by 2028 and make Meghalaya at par with other developed states of the country. “If we don’t move forward with this aim we will not be able to progress and develop nor will our economy grow,” he said. He added that economy will grow in its true sense if the youth, women, farmers, entrepreneurs and every section of the society are a part of the growth story. He also informed that in the last one and a half years the economy of the state has increased 45 thousand Cr to 56 thousand Cr and stressed on the need for improved investments and expenditure to improve the economy.
Talking about the CM Elevate program the CM informed that it is an aggressive program of the government to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to grow and flourish through financial assistance, entrepreneurship development and creation of jobs. He informed that under the different schemes of the CM Elevate program the beneficiaries will receive a subsidy of 50 per cent or more of the total project cost.
Informing that the CM Elevate program will continue every year he urged the youth to take benefit of the program. “CM Elevate is program that will not facilitate your businesses, passions and dreams but will enable you to be job providers instead of job seekers,” he added.
He also spoke about the Floriculture Mission that was launched recently adding that this mission will bolster bolster floriculture in the state. He also informed that the IT Park in Tura for which work order has been handed over will create 5000 jobs for the youth of Tura and Garo Hills region in particular.
The Chief Minister also distributed the appointment letters to Village Data Volunteers (VDVs) and emphasized on the importance of the VDVs embodying a transformative approach towards community development in Meghalaya focusing on empowerment, efficiency and evidence -based governance.
Handing over the Work Order for Bio-Mining of the waste at the dumping ground at Rongkhon Songital, Tura he said that the with the setting up of the scientific landfill the 50,000 MT of waste at Rongkhon Songital will be recycled. He also informed that the 4.5 Cr project will within 12-18 months will recycle the waste improving the dumping ground that has become a problem and an eye sore for the residents of the area.
Conrad Sangma and the other dignitaries later distributed sanction letters to beneficiaries of Agri-Response Vehicles, Agri-Warehouse, Common Facility Centre, Piggery, Poultry and Goat Farming schemes under CM Elevate. Sanction letters under the Floriculture Mission were also distributed during the occasion.
