Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 1: In a significant move to boost sustainable development in Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has launched two key projects funded by Germany’s KfW Development Bank . The initiatives were unveiled on Tuesday Oct 1, at the State Convention Centre here.
The keys projects are Sustainable Land Management Meghalaya Project (SLM) which aims to promote eco-friendly land management practices in the state and Protection of Vulnerable Catchment Areas in Meghalaya (MegARISE) which focuses on conserving sensitive catchment areas, specifically in the Umiew Catchment.
These projects are a collaborative effort between the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA), Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA), and KfW Development Bank . The program was attended by notable dignitaries, including Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Dr. Florian Wieneke, Senior Portfolio Manager, KfW Development Bank, Germany.
This development is part of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s efforts to drive economic growth and sustainability in Meghalaya, building on his previous initiatives such as the CM Elevate program, which aims to promote entrepreneurship and job creation in the state .
