Shillong ( Meghalaya ) , Jan 9 : Heightening the vigil in view of upcoming assembly election in Meghalaya state, troops of 100 Bn BSF Meghalaya in a joint operation with Meghalaya Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 18,800 Yaba tablets from his possession.
The apprehension took place in the area under PS Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills where BSF and police were performing pre-election duties. The arrested smuggler in his Bolero pickup was heading towards Rangsai village area, West Garo hills when he was nabbed by joint team.
The apprehended person has been identified as Raj Ali resident of Goalpara and disclosed that he picked up the Yaba consignment from Goalpara .in Assam.
A case has been registered against the culprit by Meghalaya police.
Since the deployment of BSF during election duty in Meghalaya, BSF and police has jointly seized drugs and narcotics items like Heroin, liquor and Yaba worth Rs 3.10 Crore approx.
