Shillong ( Meghalaya), Aug 12 : The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has launched “Operation Alert” along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya from Aug 10 to 16, to ensure foolproof security ahead of Independence Day celebrations. The operation involves intensified area domination, round-the-clock patrolling, surprise naka checks, and riverine patrols to plug gaps in the border.
The BSF has deployed additional troops in forward border locations, and senior officers from FTR HQ and Sector HQs are supervising the operation. The operation is being carried out in close coordination with the State Police and other law enforcement agencies, with a special focus on countering cattle smuggling, contraband movement, and illegal crossings.
The move reflects the BSF’s commitment to safeguarding national security during the festive season and preventing any disruption by inimical forces. With Independence Day around the corner, the BSF is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the security of the border and the safety of citizens.
