Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 24 : A recent speech by BJP leader Sunil Deodhar at the Indigenous Faith Forum in Pynter, Meghalaya, has sparked widespread controversy, with critics accusing him of making derogatory comments against the Christian community. Deodhar’s remarks, which mocked the Bible and Jesus Christ, have been widely condemned, including by members of his own party.
In a letter to Deodhar, party members expressed deep concern and anguish, stating that his comments went against the principles of respect for all religions and inclusivity espoused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter highlighted Modi’s consistent emphasis on “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and his public acknowledgment of Jesus Christ’s teachings.
The incident has raised questions about the BJP’s stance on minority rights and its commitment to promoting harmony in diverse societies. As tensions simmer, party leaders are facing pressure to clarify their position on the matter.
