Itanagar( Arunachal Praesh), Mar 19 :Two persons, including a five- year-old girl, were burnt to death and 143 thatched houses were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district on Thursday.
The incident took place at around 12.45 pm at Longliang village, and no fire tender could be pressed into service due to the remote location of the hamlet, Tirap deputy commissioner Taro Mije said.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained yet, he said, adding that efforts are on to douse the blaze.
‘An elderly person, who was bedridden, and a girl were charred to death. The deceased have not been identified,’ the official added.
Meanwhile , Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that he is deeply pained by the tragic fire accident at Longliang village under Lazu circle of Tirap district that claimed two precious lives and more than 100 houses burnt to ashes.
In this difficult times, my thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for strength to bear the loss and for peace of the departed soul.
Necessary ex-gratia relief is being extended and immediate relief being provided to the families affected by the fire accident.
