Shillong(Meghalaya), Oct 1: In a significant development, Air Marshal Surat Singh has assumed the appointment of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, Indian Air Force, effective today .
This marks a new chapter in the esteemed career of Air Marshal Singh, an accomplished fighter pilot with an impressive track record.
Air Marshal Singh was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the IAF on December 6, 1986 and is an alumnus of National Defence Academy. He is a graduate of Command and Staff College, Australia, and National Defence College, Bangladesh.
Air Marshal Singh has over 2,900 hours of flying experience on various fighter aircraft, including MiG-21, MiG-29, and Su-30 MKI.
He commanded a MiG-29 Squadron, Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), Air Defence Node, and fighter Station and served as Director at Directorate of Air Staff Inspection (DASI), Air HQ.
As Air Marshal Singh takes the reins of Eastern Air Command, his wealth of experience and expertise will undoubtedly enhance the command’s operational effectiveness and contribute to the Indian Air Force’s national security endeavors.
