Shillong(Meghalaya), Apr 27 : Commemorating the 122 nd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Shillong, the Foundation Day celebration of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre (RKMVCC) was held today at RKMVCC, Quinton Road, here.
The Governor of Meghalaya, Paghu Chauhan graced the programme as the Chief Guest. The event paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda, a visionary who played a pivotal role in shaping modern India’s rise to prominence.
Addressing the gathering, Phagu Chauhan, praised Swami Vivekananda as a warrior saint who changed the destiny of India, inspiring the nation to rise against its enemies and embrace its unique identity.
The Governor also lauded Swami Vivekananda’s teachings on man-making and character building, which have produced countless selfless leaders.
The Governor urged young people to take up the mantle of leadership and excellence, to be willing to sacrifice their comfort, privileges, and preferences to help those who are less fortunate. He further commended the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre for its efforts in training about 2100 students in computer and language skill and expressed hope that the Mission will continue to make a positive impact on society.
The event featured various activities that paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and legacy, including the magazine release of Ka Jingshai- The Light Vol.volume 4 issue 1, the facilitation of former and present teachers and the distribution of Vivekananda Award of Excellence among others.
