Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 13 : The Art of Living (AOL), Shillong Chapter celebrated the 67 th Birthday of its Founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar today, May 13 ,2023, by organizing a Blood Donation Camp and a Gala Evening with more than 200 invitees.
Like every year, the AOL Shillong Chapter organized many social services and programmes in tune with the organisation’s ideology of “Sadhna, Seva and Satsang” as the big day came closer. All the programmes were made successful by the numerous volunteers and workers of the organization to mark this auspicious day.
Earlier , clothes were donated to the Shillong District Jail on May ,7 2023 for the 250 male and 15 female inmates fulfilling the requirements of the facility. The Jail authorities expressed their gratitude with kind wishes to the AOL Shillong Chapter.
Members from AOL also visited the Civil Hospital in Shillong on May 11 where they interacted with the patients who have been abandoned by families , friends and society. The interaction included spending quality time with the patients, providing them with some food and health drinks.
Some patients who needed prescribed medicines and food and have no financial support were provided with the necessities. In future also , AOL Shillong Chapter aims to conduct such visits on a regular basis.
A Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Art of Living Seva Centre at Barapathar locality today from 10 am to 3 pm in collaboration with the Regional Blood Bank, Pasteur Institute Shillong, where more than 35 units was collected. The AOL and Pasteur Institute have been involved in organizing numerous similar camps and officials from both organizations are looking forward for many such collaborations in the future.
Gautam Aich, Honorary Secretary, Nikhil Chokhani, Seva Coordinator and Vijay Thapa, NE Apex Member of AOL, Shillong Chapter were present during the Blood Donation Camp.
A musical Evening Gala was also organized at the Rilbong Centre of Art of Living in the evening pm where Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s birthday was celebrated with Satsang, Guru Puja, cutting of Cake and distribution of Prasadam to more than 200 people present during the event. Plant saplings were also distributed to all attendees for planting in or around their homes as a gift for Gurudev on his Birthday.
Sudarshan Kriya – a breathing exercise evolved by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was organized at both Art of Living Centres in Shillong early in the morning which was attended by large number of workers, volunteers and followers of Gurudev.
The day was also celebrated by the Art of Living community throughout the world in more than 180 countries.
