Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 8: In a swift and successful operation, North Garo Hills District Police recovered two stolen motorcycles and apprehended five individuals connected to the case, dealing a significant blow to motorcycle thieves in the region.
According to police sources, the motorcycles, reported missing in Matia Police Station Goalpara, were recovered following a joint operation with Assam Police. The operation was initiated by IC Dainadubi OP based on credible intelligence.
The recovered motorcycles include a Pulsar bearing number AS-18 K 3422, detained by Wageasi OGC staff, and another motorcycle bearing number AS 01 FF 1309, recovered at Gairong Bazaar.
The five individuals arrested in connection with the operation have been identified as Rockystar M Sangma, Sanstar A Sangma, Fozirul Haque, Rofiqul Ali, and Abdul Kalam.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the stolen motorcycles were intended to be transported to Rongara for delivery to Bangladesh.
The North Garo Hills District Police’s prompt action has been hailed as a significant success in combating crime and ensuring public safety in the region.
