Kokrajhar (Assam),Jan 5: The ongoing 4th edition of Dwijing Festival at Aie River along the Hagrama Bridge in Chirang district on Sunday entered the eight day with saw huge crowd thronging the festival venue.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal graced was the chief guest in the event today.
Sonowal said that the Dwijing Festival is regarded as a festival of creativity and enjoyment amongst the society.He emphasized on protection and conservation of river bank sites across the state.
He was hopeful that through the Dwijing Festival locals are getting an opportunity to earn their livelihood .
He said that water protection and conservation of river banks as the prime focus of the Prime Minister and he has been initiating to make conservation of the water for overall development .
He urged upon all sections of people to maintain peaceful environment in the region and focus on development through the integrity.
He also lauded the organisers of Dwijing Festival as Aie River appeared to be in good shape and looked attractive.
“This is a colourful festival in the Bodoland is a festival where brotherhood is an integral part “, Sonowal added.
Assam minister for Tourism Chandan Brahma,BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary were prominent attendees on the occasion.
The Dwijing Festival will conclude on January 7 next with a colourful programme .
The festival consists of various programmes including sports,cultural, elephant Safaris and Helicopter rides.
