Kokrajhar (Assam),April 12 : Police here have started serving fresh meals at police stations, outposts to poor and needy citizens which mainly includes the daily wage earners during the ongoing nationwide lockdown in entire Kokrajhar district.
This fresh meal service was started on Friday at Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district where many people who are facing severe hardships of getting food as well other essential commodities in leading their day to day were fed by the police apart from discharging their normal law and order duties.
This was followed by Bagribari police station which started it’s ‘fresh meal’ service for needy on Saturday. In Kokrajhar police station,the fresh meal services started from today .
Responding to the state finance and health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s appeal to extend help and support to the needy citizens, police administrtaion in Kokrajhar under the leadership of Superintendent of Police,Kokrajhar Rakesh Roushan and his team on Saturday went to Lungsung inside Chirang Ripu reserve forest to distribute food items and essential items including Rice, Dal,Musterd Oil,Potato,Soap to the needy villagers . Over 600 needy families of Lungsung area were handed over food items.
SP Rakesh Roushan while talking exclusively with South Asia Views said that the police administration has decided to support the needy families by distributing food grains as well essential commodities in remote areas during the ongoing lockdown. He informed that police administration has come forward to extend support to the poorer of the poorest.
Roushan said that these poor people are facing severe hardships due to lockdown in the region,so police have come forward to extend their little help to the needy people.
He informed that there are nearly 200 daily wage earners would be served hot meal daily during the lockdown period at respective police stations and outposts across the entire district.
He promised that no body would be allowed to go hungry during the ongoing lockdown period and necessary meals would served by the police administration to the needy people.
“No one would stay hungry in the district during the lockdown periods.Every citizen will be provided with food and other essential commodities in a proper and hygienic way”, Roushan added .
He has urged all sections of citizens to maintain social distancing and wash hands frequently to aviod the spread of COVID-19 amongst the society.
He said that police officials,jawans from Kokrajhar are very enthusiastic and are extending their humanitarian services to provide human care and distribution of food grains.He said police have decided to offer this humanitarian services especially for needy who are hand in the district during the entire lockdown period .
He said that police administration is also keeping an eye on the Nizamuddin Markaz linked cases in the district and as per reports no one has returned back to their respective homes.
