Kokrajhar (Assam),Mar 25: Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) administration in a noble imitative has decided to distribute food items like rice,dal,mustard oil completely free of cost among the citizens of BTC area during the 21 – day lock down in the region.
BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary while addressing a Press Conference here today has welcomed PM Narendra Modi’s announcement of the preventive measures to be adopted to combat the Corona Virus across the country from midnight Mar 24 for a period of 21 days.
He announced that the BTC administration would be distributing essential materials like rice,dal,mustard oil and salt among the daily wage earners and the needy in the entire BTC region .
A total of 5.5 lakh families from four districts of BTAD are expected to benefit by getting free rice,dal,musterd oil for 21 days during the lock down period declared by Govt of India.
He said that each family would be handed over 25 kgs of rice,two kgs of Dal and 500 ml mustard oil from Thursday.
He also said that ten lakh masks and sanitizers have been ordered for supply to the people of the region.
He has urged the people to stay at home and ensure that the virus does spread .
” All must ensure that the Lock down announced by our PM for preventive measures is followed in letter and spirit “, Mohilary added.
