Kokrajhar(Assam),Mar 14: Just after 14 months after signing of the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) accord signed on Jan 27 last year , a new militant outfit has been formed in the Bodoland Territorial Region . The outfit has been named as National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) and is headed by former NDFB leader M. Batha.
The new outfits name became public after a press statement issued to media houses on Sunday.
The statement of NLFB signed by B Bungtigwra, said that the new NLFB militant outfit was formed on October 12 last year at a undisclosed location to protect the Bodo community and preserve the language and the culture .
The NLFB slammed the BJP led alliance government in the center and at the state for failing to work towards upiftment and development of the Bodo community.
The NLFB is headed by M Batha, former hardcore leader of the NDFB,who has reportedly returned to the jungle for arms struggle with around 30 new cadres.
Notably, all the four factions of National Democratic Front of Boroland(NDFB) had come to the mainstream through the historic third Bodo peace talks which led to the creation of Bodoland Territorial Region.
Meanwhile,intensifying strict counter insurgency operation, police have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Diglipara area under Bishmuri police outpost in Kokrajhar district on Saturday evening.
Based on specific inputs about presence of arms and ammunition, police carried out a search operation along the jungle areas of Diglipara on Saturday evening and were able to recover a huge caches of arms and ammunition which included two AK 56 riffle,two magazines,one revolver and 29 live ammunitions.
However,no arrests have been made in connection with the recovery of arms and ammunition.
Speaking the reporters today at a press conference held at SP office here , additional DGP and IGP in-charge of BTC Dr L R Bishnoi said that police have stepped up their their search operations in the districts of Bodoland Territorial Council.
He informed that police within a year have seized 80 numbers of arms which includes 36 sophisticated arms and 2500 rounds of ammunition from different places in Kokrajhar district till Jan this year
.
Dr Bishnoi confirmed that former NDFB leader M Batha along with 30 members has returned to the jungle along with sophisticated arms and they are preparing to create chaos in the region.
He said zero tolerance would be maintained an no one will spared.
“Police are taking strict steps against the militant organisation who are stepping towards the arm’s struggle in the BTC region”, Dr Bishmuri said.
Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar Rakesh Roushan said that police is thoroughly checking with details on the militant organisation.
He said that several former militant leaders and members were behind the newly formed NLFB outfit.
