Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Jan 30: The 53rd annual conference of All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) entered day second day today which is being held at Mungkhlong Fwthar,Borphukuri Gohpur of Biswanath district.
The students union today discussed on the building up of quality educational environment among the student’s community in the annual conference.
As part of the programme ,ABSU president Dipen Boro hoisted union flag in the morning followed by hoisting of district committee’s flag.
Adviser of the ABSU Khungkhra Swargiyary paid homage to Bodoland martyrs while ABSU vice president Jayanta Basumatary offered floral tributes to great Bodo personalities on the occasion.
A seminar on the mission quality education and prospects of new education policy(NEP) 2020,challenges in vernacular medium with special reference to Bodo language was held with ABSU president Dipen Boro in the chair.
Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member(CEM) Pramod Boro graced as special guest on the occasion.
Boro said that the society must have quality educational environment for paving way for healthy development.
He urged upon the student community to dedicate themselves to acquire higher education .
Eminent educationist and Magsaysay award winner Sonam Wangchuk while attending the function said that he was very lucky to be part of the annual conference of the ABSU in Bodoland Territorial Region.
He has extended his warm greetings to the people of the BTR area on behalf of Kadam area in Ladak region which has a lot of similiarity as far as the structures are concerned in the BTR areas .
He encouraged the people from the area to undertake education in their own local language as local language is the main source of uplifment and development of the community .
“We must undergo education in our local languages for paving way for healthy educational environment in the society . ”I have undergone my education in my mother tongue throughout my life”, Wangchuk said.
Dr Anjan Kumar Ojah,principal of Chaiduar College, chairman of SEBA Ramesh Chandra Jain, Mission director of Assam skill development mission A P Tiwari,BTC Secretary Naren Chandra Basumatary were prominent attendees on the occasion.
On the concluding day of the open session ,Eminent writer and Sahitya Akademy award winner Yashi Dorjee Thongchi attended as the chief guest.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal,Assam Education and health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma,BTR CEM Pramod Boro also attended the function as special guests .
