Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Mar 13: Bringing an encouraging information among the writing community of the Bodo literary society, 3 Bodo writers have been named for Sahitya Akademi awards for the year 2020 which was announced on Friday in New Delhi from ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Noted Bodo author Dharanidhar Wary of Baksa has been posthumously named for Sahitya Akademi award-2020 for his short story , ‘Gwthenai Lamayao Gwdan Lama’ .
Basumatary has been named for the award in recognition his literary creativity and dedication towards upliftment of the Bodo literature .
Basumatary who passed away few months back at Baksa district following age related ailments.
Noted educationist and author Dr Ajit Boro has been named for ‘Bal Sahitya Puruskar-2020 for a book for children named ‘Gothosa Bisombhi’ .
Dr Boro is presently the principal of Gossaigaon B Ed College and a resident of Tulungapuri Kokrajhar in Kokrajhar town, who has till date authored 15 books including books for children and edited more than 65 magazines /souvenirs .
He is well known for his scholarly writings on Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma.
Young promising author Newton K Basumatary of Morigaon district has been named for Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puruskar-2020(translation) for his collection of poems , ‘Abwi-Abow arw Ang’.
Several Bodo organizations including president of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) Dipen Boro, Bodo Sahitya Sabha general secretary Prosanta Kumar Boro, Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member and UPPL president Pramod Boro have extended their congratulations to the Sahitya Akademi award winners from the Bodo community.
BTR CEM Boro said that people from BTR area are very happy on getting the positive news of 3 Bodo writers being named for Sahitya Akademi awards .
