Guwahati ( Assam), April 17 : There has been a surge of Covid -19 cases in the state with a total of 876 cases detected in the state on Saturday .
Kamrup (Metro) district which mainly consists of the capital city reported 360 cases .
Today a total of 43, 268 tests were done with the overall positive percentage at 2.02 % .
The government has decided that all elementary schools in districts with 100 + cases would remain closed .
The Government has also decided to organize camps to vaccinate teachers over the age of 45 and to organise vaccination drives in any workplace which has more than 100 employees.
State Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted , “As of now we have no plans to announce any lockdown or curfew. We appeal to SEBA to discuss with relevant authorities regarding the board exams and take a decision within the next 10 days.”
