Kokrajhar (Assam), Oct 5 :The former members and leaders of National Democratic Front of Boroland(NDFB) representing the four factions of the NDFB staged a protest demonstration today demanding release of jailed NDFB founding chairman Ranjana Daimary and other members, disposal of cases of NDFB leader and cadres and early implementation of all clauses of Bodoland Territorial Region( BTR) accord .
Hundreds of ex NDFB members staged a demonstration in front of DC office in Kokrajhar to put pressure on the government for granting of rehabilitation and ex gratia to the family members of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Bodoland movement.
A memorandum was submitted to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal seeking early implementation of all the clauses of the BTR accord.
Ex NDFB members demanded early release of founding chairman of NDFB Ranjan Daimary and other members who are presently in jails.
The ex NDFB members expressed their unhappiness over jail term of Ranjan Daimary who was one of prominent signatories of BTR accord and demanded release of Daimary and other members members who are still lodged in various jails.
Ex -NDFB members, Sachin Brahma,N Naishrang and N Dansrang demanded proper implementation of all clauses of BTR accord.
They said that all four factions of NDFB signed the historic BTR accord to bring back peace and development in the region .
Dansrang demanded to the release of NDFB founding chairman Ranjan Daimary and other members who are still in the jails.He said that ex NDFB leaders must be set free from the jails through the spirit of historic BTR accord.
Meanwhile, The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) has demanded properly implementation of all clauses enlisted BTR accord by involving signatories and signatory organisations while initiating steps for alloting land areas to establish educational institution and setting up some other institutes through the spirit of the memorandum of settlement(MoS) of BTR accord.
A five member delegation of ABSU led by it’s president Dipen Boro today met Principal Secretary of BTC and submitted a memorandum seeking proper implementation of the clauses of the BTR accord and urged for involving the signatories and heir organisations of BTR accord while allotting of land for setting up of educational services .
The All Bodo Students Union being the key signatory organization to the MoS is keeping a watch at every process of implementation and is aware of the initiatives taken by the Government of India and Assam and wants proper implementation of the BTR accord that was signed on Jan 27, last.
The students union has welcomed the steps of the Government in implementation of MoS.
