Kokrajhar (Assam), April 19: A severe hailstorm lashed in many parts of Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in the Bodoland Territorial Council last night.
The hailstorm ,caused damage to crops of farmers, schools , business shops, cable wires, electric wires, posts, dwelling houses and uprooting trees.
The heavy rain and hailstorm that occurred around 11 pm last night also had impact at various places in adjoining areas including greater Pratapkata,Nayachara,Dotma, Karigaon,Patgaon, greater Binnakata near Bhawraguri particular in the area.
The hailstorm damaged several properties like houses,uprooted trees in the greater Pratapkata area .
The storm along with rains also damaged roads and uprooted trees in many areas near Chitila Nayachara.
The worst affected was Binnakata viilage.
The rain and the storm also caused damages in many remote areas of Chirang district.
Officers from district administration rushed to the areas to take stock and assessed the damage .
“I faced severe headship when hailstorm wrecked my house last night.I am now not in a position to repair my damaged house”,said a villager from Pratapkata.
