Guwahati ( Assam), May 12 : The surge in Covid – 19 cases in the state continues with 5657 new cases detected in the state in past 24 hours .
The new cases were confirmed out of 63,956 tests.
Among the new cases 1456 cases were reported from Kamrup ( Metro) .
Meanwhile ,71 more Covid -19 patients succumbed to their infections today at various hospitals in the state .
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet informed that that the overall positivity percentage was 8.85% and the recovery rate was 85.74 % .
He also informed that the state has procured 1,80,000 more Covishield Vaccine doses for age group of 18-45 yrs.
