Kokrajhar(Assam),Mar 13: Different political parties including ruling BPF,UPPL,BJP and ,Congress have geared up for the upcoming 4th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) slated to be held on April 4 next in 40 constituencies across four districts.
Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania led Gana Suraksha Party(GSP) has announced to contest in all 40 seats and declared the names of 18 candidate’s on Thursday in the council elections.
The constituencies for which the names have been declared are Baukhungri,Debargaon,Fakiragram,Mushalpur,Darangajuli,Koklabari,Kalingduar etc.
The GSP is confident of winning a large number of seats in the election as citizens irrespective from caste , creed and community are coming forward to support GSP,said a senior party leader.
United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) president Pramod Boro is expected to announce the names of all the candidates in all 40 seat’s on Saturday.

The list will be include woman candidates,representatives from different communities, said a senior party leader.
Ruling BPF is also likely to announce the third list of candidates today.The party has so far declared the names of 18 candidate’s .
Senior BPF leader and Assam Social Welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma expressed confidence that BPF would be winning majority seats to form the council for the fourth consecutive term .
” Iam confident that BPF is forming the fourth BTC council as they would win majority of the seats “, she said.
She said the plus point is that BPF is working for the development for all sections of the communities in the region.
She has welcomed all political parties in the fray including Congress,AIUDF,BJP,UPPL who are participating in the council elections in the spirit of healthy democracy.
She informed that party candidate’s names would be announced by this evening .
General Secretary of BPF party Emanuel Mushahary and Assam minister Rihan Daimary were confident that BPF is again coming in power for fourth consecutive term in BTC by winning majority of the seats in the council elections.
Both BPF leaders stated that names of the candidates for the remaining seat’s are going to be announced today evening after finalization of seat sharing with alliance partners BJP and AGP.
“Bringing development,peace and integration amongst all sections of the communities is the prime issue with which the BPF is going to the hustings “,said the BPF leaders.
Meanwhile,Congress and AIUDF have decided to field candidates jointly in 25 seats while CPI-M would be nominating candidates in 10 seats in the council elections.
Notably this time around , every constituency will witness multi cornered contest in the elections and those candidate or parties who get the people’s support , will be able to form next council.
