Kokrajhar(Assam),Jan 01: While the people here were busy celebrating the new year,unidentified miscreants took the opportunity and vandalised the Rupahi anchalik committee office All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) late night in Assam Baksa district.
Sensation prevails in Rupahi area following the incident where properties,documents belonging to the students union were damaged.
The incident took place late Tuesday night around 10.15 pm at Rupahi under Salbari police station in Baksa district.
According to Rupahi anchalik committee ABSU members,a group of five to eight unknown miscreants entered the ABSU office in the night and after vandalising several properties torched the important materials including TV, official documents,tables, chairs and two wheelers .
There were six office bearers inside the office room when the miscreants entered the office and started vandalising. Luckly , the office bearers managed to escape through the window without any injury .
The miscreants threatened the office bearers of dire consequences if they resisted .
Three two wheelers,several important official files were destroyed by the miscreants.
Rupahi anchalik committee of ABSU and citizens of the area have condemned the attack on ABSU office and demanded immediate action against the culprits .
At the time of filing of this report police have not yet been able to find out the reason behind the attack of ABSU office.
Police rushed the spot to take stock about incident and started their investigation into incident and detained two persons involved in the incident.Security forces have been deployed in the area after the incident and situation is under control now ,said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, retaliating to the ABSU office attack, unidentified people in large number from the area attacked the Rupahi primary Youth BPF office on Wednesday morning.
ABSU president Pramod Boro condemned the attack on ABSU and demanded action against the culprits .He expressed serious concern over the incident and said that the students union was working for the upliftment and welfare for the society.
He also appealed to all sections of society to maintain peace and tranquility in the area .
