Khanapara (Meghalaya), May 17 : The “World Telecommunication & Information Society Day, 2023” was observed here today by the Department of Computer Science, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) by organizing a workshop on “Telecommunication & Quality Services”.
The objective of the workshop was to prioritize the connection of people securely and promote the development of technologies on a daily basis. The Resource person of the workshop was Biswajit Mazumdar, Junior Technical Officer in BSNL, Guwahati Circle. Achyut Kumar Das, JTO, BSNL, Assam Circle has also participated in the workshop.
Majumdar illustrated the use of Light Fidelity (LiFi) Technology and its application to boost the speed of internet service. He mentioned about the Micro-finance and Grameen Foundation to support the various technological equipment to emphasize the strength of telecommunication in rural areas.
A visit was organized to the Institute of Engineers, Guwahati for the celebration of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) by the Department of Computer Science. The group of students from the department presented and showed their skills on the theme of this year “Empowering the Least Developed Countries through Information and Communication Technologies”.
