Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 5 : The Meghalaya Trinamool Congress on Thursday welcomed prominent leaders SG Esmatur Mominin and Robinus Syngkon as they joined the party in the presence of Meghalaya TMC State President Charles Pyngrope and Trinamool Congress Legislature Party Leader Dr. Mukul Sangma.
Meghalaya TMC State President Charles Pyngrope said, “We have two young dynamic leaders of the state who’ve along with their supporters decided to be a part of the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress and be a part of our resolve to serve the state and nation as a whole.”
“On behalf of our National Chairperson, National General Secretary, and all party functionaries of Meghalaya TMC, I welcome the sitting MLA of Phulbari Legislative Assembly Constituency ,Estamur Mominin. Glad to have you as a part of our team. I would like to both welcome and congratulate all your supporters and electorates who have collectively decided to be a part of this great family. We look forward to serving the people with the utmost sense of sincerity, honesty, and commitment,” Dr. Sangma said.
Apart from serving as a legislator from Phulbari Assembly Constituency, Mominin has also served as an MDC from Shyamnagar on an NPP ticket and subsequently won. He was also the former Chairman of the State Forest Department.
Leader of Opposition, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Dr. Sangma also thanked current MDC of Raliang, West Jaintia Hills, Robinus Syngkon for joining the Meghalaya TMC family. “Ba Syngkon has been a man who has served the people in different capacities. First, as a government official, then as an elected representative to serve people from very difficult areas. He represented – in 2013 and 2018 – a very difficult area in our state, the Mowkaiaw constituency,” he said.
After serving as a District Transport Officer for eight years, Syngkon quit his job in 2013 as he was more interested in joining politics to serve the people. During the 2013 Assembly Election, he won as an independent candidate from Mowkaiaw Assembly Constituency.
