Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 19 : Tension broke out at Khyndailad area today after two local taxi drivers were allegedly assaulted by five persons around 10 pm on Thursday .
After the incident on Thursday , some local taxi drivers stopped plying of local cabs from Khyndailad area demanding that the culprits behind the assault should be arrested immediately.
Many business establishments in Police Bazar , downed their shutters out of fear .
After filing of an FIR in Sadar PS today , police swung into action and were capable of arresting five persons hailing from Harijan Colony in the city who had fled to Guwahati .
The Special Cell, East Khasi Hills along with the help of Guwahati City Police were successful in nabbing the 5 persons at Guwahati.
The assaulted local taxi drivers Iohborlang Kharsohnoh ( 27yrs ) from Jongksha and Banshai Syiem (25 yrs) from Laitkor who were assaulted have been admitted to Civil Hospital, Shillong for medical treatment.
Meanwhile , regular taxi service will resume from Saturday as police were successful in arresting the culprits within the deadline set by East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association , Shillong.
